In partnership with Deakin Developments, Worthington Homes have been commissioned to design and build a custom home in Shell Cove.

With more families and retirees moving away from greater Sydney, real estate on the south coast is booming.

House prices across Sydney are sky-high, raking in eye-watering amounts of cash from eager buyers making it virtually impossible for many to achieve the Australian dream.

In recent years, however, COVID-19 has opened the doors for mum-and-dad buyers wanting to get out of Sydney without having to change jobs. Today, a wide acceptance of work-from-home culture has offered employees better flexibility for a healthy work/life balance.

In parallel with the great exodus out of Sydney, there has been an increase in demand for house and land development across areas south and north of Sydney.

Residents are flocking to regional, rural and even remote townships of NSW to re-establish themselves. Now there are plenty of opportunities for families to have the lifestyle they always wanted without having to wait until retirement.

A sea change is now more achievable than ever

Uprooting from Sydney to live on the coast has been a mere pipe dream for most people. But with more residential development comes more opportunities to nab larger sizes homes without the competition of Sydney. In addition, buyers get more bang for their buck.

Our custom home Shell Cove project is in a prime location, only minutes drive to pristine beaches with world-class restaurants and bars only a short walk away – plus, a monumental 5-bedroom home overlooking a brand new marina.

In the centre of Shell Cove is a magnificent 270-berth Shellharbour Marina, which is set to attract out-of-towners ready for a fresh start in a coastal location. Residents wanting a sea change or tree change can get the best of both worlds in this region set between the east coast of NSW and the Southern Highlands. Only 1 hour and 45 minutes south of Sydney, an idyllic coastal lifestyle is made possible.

“When the opportunity came to be a part of this development, I was excited to architecturally design and construct a house during a key growth phase in the region,” says Managing Director, Liam Worthington.

“In designing a contemporary home so close to the new Shellharbour Marina, it’s essential that we connect the façade and aesthetics to the streetscape. Though the neighbourhood is fairly new, we’re confident the house will showcase something unique but also coherent.”

We design the floor plan, you pick the inclusions

Construction is soon to commence while expressions of interest are being received. Though the ‘shell’ of the house design has been established, there’s still plenty of scope for potential buyers to put their own stamp on the home to suit their needs and taste.

Liam says, “The 335m² house is currently in the approvals stage, which is an exciting phase for any potential buyer who wants to design their own home. We’ve included high ceilings, large spaces for entertaining, an outdoor kitchen/dining area as well as oversized bedrooms into the plan. All the buyers need to do is decide on how each room of the house will look.”

Featuring large open living areas, oversized bedrooms, extra storage space and a beautiful outdoor kitchen for entertaining friends and family, the 5-bedroom home is impressive by design. With its contemporary styling and upgraded level of inclusions, choices for kitchen and bathroom, tiles, tapware, carpet and colour schemes are all up to the buyer.

Liam adds, “Plus, the lucky owners get to move away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney to a low-density area with less traffic and a slower, less stressful pace. It’s a win-win for all.”
